Corsets, Mikado and Dramatic Lace: What Wedding Dresses Will Look Like in 2027 According to Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week
From Chantilly lace and basque waists to sweetheart necklines, luxurious Mikado fabrics, and dramatic veils, the collections of leading global designers such as Justin Alexander clearly showcased a return to romance, defined femininity, and impeccable craftsmanship that will shape bridal fashion in 2027.
When professionals in the world of wedding dresses want to understand what lies ahead for the next season, they look to Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week. This spring, leading fashion houses presented their vision for 2027, and among the attendees was the team from Alfa Brides, the official representative of Justin Alexander in Bulgaria.

One of the most talked-about events of the exhibition was the anniversary runway show celebrating 80 years of Justin Alexander. Founded in New York in 1946, the company marked its milestone with a special presentation that closed Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week 2026. The runway featured both iconic elements from the brand’s history and some of the latest luxury wedding dresses from the Justin Alexander Signature collection.

Chantilly Lace Is the Big Winner
If there was one fabric that dominated the 2027 collections, it was undoubtedly Chantilly lace. Numerous designers showcased entirely lace wedding gowns with rich textures, sheer layers, and an exceptionally romantic aesthetic. After years of minimalism, lace is once again taking center stage rather than serving merely as a decorative accent.

The Basque Waist Makes a Comeback
Another clearly defined trend is the return of the basque waist. Inspired by classic haute couture silhouettes, it creates a longer body line while elegantly accentuating the waist. This detail appeared throughout the new collections of many leading international bridal brands.

Corsets Once Again Define the Silhouette
One of the strongest trends for the upcoming season is the return of true garment construction. Corsets are no longer merely decorative elements but the very foundation upon which the gown is built. Hidden boning, precise internal structures, and a flawless fit are once again becoming symbols of superior craftsmanship.

Luxurious Mikado Remains Unrivaled
Despite the popularity of lace, Mikado continues to be one of the most preferred fabrics among designer collections. Thanks to its structure, it allows for the creation of striking skirts, sculptural shapes, and exceptionally clean lines. This blend of minimalism and luxury was among the defining characteristics of the exhibition.

Sweetheart Necklines and Dramatic Veils
Sweetheart necklines were among the most frequently seen design choices on the Barcelona runways. Combined with corset construction, they create one of the most feminine silhouettes in contemporary bridal fashion. At the same time, the veil is once again becoming the focal point of the bridal look—longer, more elaborately decorated, and far more dramatic than what we have seen in recent years.
According to the observations of Alfa Brides, bridal fashion in 2027 is moving toward more romantic silhouettes, more refined construction, and higher-quality fabrics. After years of extremes, designers are once again focusing on elegance, femininity, and impeccable craftsmanship—qualities that never go out of style.
